Thanumalayan Temple for Your Spiritual fullfillment

The Thanumalayan Temple, also called Sthanumalayan Temple is a famous Hindu temple found in Suchindram in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, India. The Thanumalayan is one of the Few Temples in India that is Dedicated to both Shaiv bakthas and Vishnu bakthas alike, as the name Stanumalaya denotes The Trimurtis; “Stanu” means Siva; “Mal” means Vishnu, and the “Aya” means Brahma.

Suchindrum located 13 km from Kanyakumari and is a major pilgrim centre. Suchindrum known as Gnanaranya is well known for its sculptures. Engravings said to be of the 9th century are discovered in this temple.

The 134-foot-tall gopuram houses the travellers from a long distance. On the east corridor is the reliquary of Guru Dakshinamurthi Right next to Konnayadi. The Navagrahas are carved on the dome. On the outer prakaram, there are several shrines for Cheravasal Sastha, Rama and Lord Muruga. On the north corridor, there are four musical pillars cut out of individual granite sections.

Suchindram Anjaneyar Temple is also known as Thanumalaya Perumal temple, Hanuman temple. It’s believed that Lord Shiva visited Suchindram Temple when Devi came for self-punishment at Kanyakumari. Suchindrum is found 6 km south-east of the district capital Nagercoil and it’s about 13 km from Kanyakumari. Suchindram is resting between Nagercoil and Kanyakumari main road. This Hanuman Temple located in a village of Suchindram and is famous for its Sculptures and tall towers known as “gopurams”. This gopuram is very large, white coloured, with a lot of sculptures and about 40 meters in height.

There is a huge Hanuman statue is the chief fascination in the temple and “vada mala” pooja is appropriate for this Hanuman. The statue is 18 feet in height and depicts ‘visuvaroopam‘. Hanuman Temple is dedicated to Sri Thanumalayan.

There are two major festivals each year; one is in the Tamil month of Markazhi (December/January) and another one is in the Tamil month of Chiththirai (April/May). When the Markazhi festival, there is a festival on the 9th day; the deities are taken out around the city in procession around the streets on three festival cars.
